Standard Orbit

May 14, 2022 by Greg Molyneux

35mm square format photograph of large hydrangea hanging baskets lining a greenhouse corridor within Longwood Gardens conservatory.

The Longwood Gardens conservatory is a sight to behold. The crowning jewel atop acres of grounds fit for any court. It is here I encountered the majestic hanging baskets bursting with hydrangea paced about 20 feet apart. An orbital welcome, a floral chandelier guiding me about this aged, overground manse.

Ground Level

April 22, 2022 by Greg Molyneux

35mm ground level photograph of flowers at Longwood Gardens backlight by powerful golden hour sun.

A springtime visit to Longwood Gardens with close friends is good for the soul. Spring season flowers were in bloom, and the late day golden hour sun danced upon the flower buds. An ideal mix for ground level photographs.

The Worn One

August 6, 2021 by Greg Molyneux

35mm low key photograph of a tall and withering purple coneflower silhouetted and brooding at sunset.

Observing the lifecycle of flowers—from bloom to doom—sets the mind thinking to our own aging arc. At middle age the flower of my youth is long gone making all this time alone more intense and frightening.

World Between Worlds

100mm macro photograph of a black swallowtail caterpillar set atop dill.

Caterpillars can set a mind to thinking. Imagine knowing such a profound metamorphosis would soon set upon you? How would that change your life and your perspective?

Peony Leisure

May 25, 2021 by Greg Molyneux

35mm portrait orientation photo of a single bright pink peony blossom. Shallow depth of field and smooth bokeh frame out a pollinating insect flying to the flower.

Among spring flowers the peony rains supreme. The ground level royal companion who so elegantly follows the twin beauty of the cherry blossom. Two flowers worthy of Japan warrant a haiku.

Heaven Scent

May 6, 2021 by Greg Molyneux

35mm dreamy photograph of pink lilacs fresh bloomed and glowing in silky smooth bokeh.

Come for the dreamy lilac photograph that looks so good you can almost smell it, and stay for the haiku—it’s short by definition.

The April Fool

April 1, 2021 by Greg Molyneux

Moody 35mm photo of a yellow daffodil blossom shot wide open with a bokeh rich shallow depth of field.

Moody 35mm photo of a yellow daffodil blossom evokes dreams of poetry, even if it a bit unwieldily. Here the photographer muses over the fools in life he assume they know it all.

Autumn Intonation

November 11, 2020 by Greg Molyneux

35mm photo of a quick fire hydrangea bathed in rich golden light. The autumn pinks, yellows, and oranges of the flowering bush explode in a panoply of autumn color backdropped by smooth bokeh.

Autumn sings its beauty in mysterious, esoteric ways. Yet the comprehension is there if only we take the time to look and listen. The beauty of autumn reveals a promised truth: rebirth and renewal is always there waiting for us. Take a moment to listen and observe the songs nature speaks.

Walled Off

35mm sepia photograph of an old wooden structure marked by leading lines, knotted wood, and a rusted iron locking loop.

Located in Wharton State Forest in Hammonton, New Jersey, Batsto Village makes for a great outdoor destination. This historic old iron works town dating back to the 18th century is a portal to the past. It’s an idyllic destination for photographers of all stripes.

Dahlia Dreams

September 11, 2020 by Greg Molyneux

100mm macro photograph of a pink dahlia blossom with soft focus and smooth bokeh creating a dreamy look.

Serving up a soft focus dahlia on a Friday afternoon. Smooth and inviting this flower grows to soothe. When viewed through a macro lens we come close to the tiny tubular petals emblematic of the dahlia. These petals are numerous as they are fascinating. There must be 50 our more making up each full flower.
